Review: Texas de Brazil

Texas de Brazil (TDB) is described to be an upscale Brazilian eatery featuring all-you-can-eat grilled meat carved tableside and an awesome salad bar.

It serves lunch from Sunday-Thursday at 119 SAR excluding filet mignon, braised beef ribs, lamb chops, and prawns. If you avail only the salad area, it’ll cost you 65 SAR – drinks not inclusive.

The dinner price is a little more pricey than lunch (of course!), it’ll cost you around 159 SAR for various meet cuts and salad area. But if you’re vegetarian/vegan, you can still enjoy the place by availing the salad bar buffet for only 89 SAR, you’d have a wide range of salads to choose from, again, drinks are not inclusive of the price. Children from 6 to 12 years will be charged half the price and all those under 6 years are complimentary.

If you’re a heavy meat eater, this place is for you. The intervals of meat are well-scheduled for you to crave for more instead of the opposite. If you feel like losing appetite in trying to consume your giant ribeye steak from some other steak places, then I could vouch that you won’t have that kind of feeling in TDB. The meat is fresh, well-cooked in various doneness and the attendants are very attentive to your needs.

Like any other buffet places, the drinks are expensive and it is expected because that’s where buffets breakeven but 15 SAR for an 8-ounce Coke?! A little too pricey for me…

The space between tables is one of my issues. People from neighboring tables can have an elbow-to-elbow situation which kind of uncool you know. I guess spacing is something worth looking at. Other than that, their glassware, china, and the rest of the table set-up are superb!

I have a slight problem though concerning the ladies room because it doesn’t really promote hand hygiene. For a place fancier than others, at least they could invest on automatic / sensor faucets. The sliding doors do not help either because you will have to touch everything once again after having just washed your hands from the non-automated faucets; it’s like germs all over again! The ladies room is a bit crowded and customers can really use sinks outside the toilet cubicles to wash up once out of the toilet bowl area. It’s not an ideal design for ladies rooms, you see, try to imagine re-touching your make-up inside a very small airplane like space with all the messy tissues scattered all over the wet floor. It’s not appealing. We got to get out of there, find somewhere open, with wide mirrors and good lighting, of course, with automatic faucets by the sink.

Anyhow, overall, I’d say that since it’s a place to eat and it serves awesome food, I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. Perhaps if they change the female WC situation for the better, then I’d generously give that remaining star totally ignoring the cost of the 8-ounce Coke, I promise!

The place is located in Rubeen Plaza, Northern Ring Branch Road, Exit 2, Riyadh, KSA. For inquiries, you may call Texas de Brazil at 00966-11-2111850 – they have an awesome set of staff to attend to your call.

BUT, Texas de Brazil does not accept reservations on Fridays (just when you needed it most!) but yes, keep in mind, early bird catches the worm!

Happy eating you carnivores!
